After spending ten minutes completing vocabulary drills on Membean, students take their weekly vocabulary test.
Students have the opportunity to begin reading Chapter 5 before the end of the period.
Homework: Finish reading Chapter 5 of To Kill a Mockingbird in preparation for a quiz over Chapters 4 & 5.

After listening to Chapter 2, students took multiple choice quizzes over Chapters 1 and 2 of To Kill a Mockingbird.
Students then spent ten minutes in vocabulary drills on Membean. During their next English class period they will take their weekly individualized vocabulary test (20 questions).

Comma Test & Chapter 1 of To Kill a Mockingbird

After students took their comma test, they spent ten minutes completing vocabulary drills on Membean.
Mr. Stone began reading aloud Chapter 1 of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.
Homework: Finish reading Ch. 1 of To Kill a Mockingbird. (If you don't have a book yet, then Chapter 1 is available for preview on Amazon. You can ask Mr. Stone to read the last page in class if you don't yet have a book.)
Students need to have a print or digital text version of the novel so that they can follow along while we listen to a dramatic recording of the novel during class time. They will be expected to read chapters outside of class time as well.

Comma Test Reminder
The comma test will be on Thursday, March 2nd for Periods 5 & 6 and Friday, March 3rd for Periods 1, 2, & 7.
Sentence Combining
Wednesday 1 March 2017 for Periods 5 & 6 and Thursday 2 march 2017 for Periods 1, 2, & 7
While students completed ten minutes of vocabulary practice on Membean, Mr. Stone checked on their completion of Comma Practice #3.
Mr. Stone went over the correct answers for Comma Practice #3, identifying the specific construction as well as the rule for each question.
Students then practiced combining two clauses to look at comma uses from a sentence construction perspective.
Homework: Review Comma Practices 1-3 and the Rule sheets to prepare for the test. If time permits complete some of the self-scoring comma quizzes available through links on the righthand side of this blog.
